Ruger security 9 slide stuck.

I bought the Security 9 yesterday and have not fired it, cleaned it, oiled it, or anything. I have, however, run four magazines through and every round hangs up. First, all firearms need cleaned before you do anything with them! Evidently, there is definitely something amiss with the guide rod assembly. As I mentioned above, try to manipulate the guiderod assembly with a dental pick or similiar object while "shaking" the pistol. Put the safety in the off-safe position. If possible, try to move the slide back and forth as you do this.

The issue is, basically, if I hand cycle the slide and ease it forward, the slide will get stuck about 1/8" out of battery. I then can push the slide forward the rest of the way. Like I said, it doesn't affect live firing, but the P89 I owned in the past wouldn't get stuck out of battery when doing this, so I wonder how normal this is.
